Ministry History - About Rock Mountain Bible Camp & Arrowhead Ministries

Rock Mountain Bible Camp is a part of Arrowhead Ministries, which operates two camps in northeastern Pennsylvania and a Christian bookstore in the southern tier of New York. The purpose of the entire ministry is to lead the lost to saving faith in Jesus Christ, and to encourage believers to pursue a growing relationship with Him.    

Where we began. . .

Arrowhead Ministries was founded as Arrowhead Lake Bible Conference in 1945, providing conferences where youth & adults could come away from their daily routines to be impacted by the preaching & teaching of the Word of God.  In 1951, Arrowhead began an on-site bookstore ministry to provide Christian literature and resources to those who attended the conference. In 1952, summer youth camps were begun to give children an opportunity to experience a fun, Christ-centered week of camp.  In 1962, the Shepherds Camp program began to provide a Christ-centered summer camp for teenagers and adults with developmental disabilities. 

In 1996, Arrowhead Ministries took ownership of the struggling 'Camp of the Nations' (founded in 1974), and re-opened the camp as Rock Mountain Bible Camp.  The intention was to expand Arrowhead's ministry to youth, churches, and families at the 200+ acre camp. Summer youth programs were relocated to Rock Mountain in 1997 (Teen Camp) and 2001 (Junior Camp). Fall Overnighters were relocated to Rock Mountain in 2001 & 2005.  On-site & off-site Adventure programs were started in 2002 (TEAM Initiative Course & Zipline), 2003 (The Path), and 2005 (Joshua Trek). Our ministry to churches has grown from a handful of churches in 1996 to average over 50 churches/Christian groups served per year. And we still have room to grow! Our ministry to families in the Family Campground has grown to serve 250+ families per camping seasion (May-October).

Where we are now. . .

• Rock Mountain Bible Camp- a camp and retreat center that provides Youth programs, Adventure programs, a Family Campground, year-round rentals for churches & other Christian groups, and ministry opportunities for individuals & groups.  

• Arrowhead Bible Camp-  occupying the original conference grounds, a camp and retreat center that provides Shepherds Camp, a Day Camp, rentals to Christian groups and churches, and ministry opportunities for individuals & groups.  

• Arrowhead Parable Christian Store - The bookstore provides a large inventory of quality Christian books, music, and gifts to the Greater Binghamton area through our 14,000 square foot store location in Johnson City, NY; and nationwide via our association with Parable Christian Stores, a national association of independent Christian bookstores.

God has blessed our camps & bookstore.  We look forward to continued ministry to children, teens, families, churches, Christian organizations, student groups, individuals with developmental disabilities, and our own seasonal and year-round staff. Our prayer is that God would use our camps and bookstore to be places were His truth is proclaimed, taught, experienced, and meditated upon.
